About Me

Alison TylerAs well as offering counselling and psychotherapy in my private practice in Witney and Wantage, I am a counsellor and psychotherapist for a local counselling service and I am a school counsellor at a secondary school in Oxfordshire.

I have experience of working with a wide range of issues, including:

  • Adolescence
  • Agoraphobia
  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Depression
  • Divorce
  • Low self-esteem
  • Phobias
  • Relationships and relationship break-down

I work on a one-to-one basis in a confidential setting in which my clients have the opportunity to explore their thoughts and feelings within a non-judgmental and reliable relationship. Through our work, my clients are able to develop new and different ways of responding to situations and to make new choices that they feel are positive for them. I work with clients for as long as they wish.

My training was psychodynamic which means looking at how our past, particularly the early years, has an influence on our feelings and behaviour in our lives now. However, I have a flexible approach to my work, and respond to each of my clients and what they want from therapy, drawing on other psychotherapeutic approaches as well.

I have a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a Certificate in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a degree. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am bound by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the BACP.
